Kolkata faces scorching heat: Highs of 40.65°C expected today
Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee commenced her "Mission North Kolkata" today with a rally in support for her "most trusted" member - Subip Bandopadhyay.
Mamata also addressed various community concerns and criticized the BJP. She clarified her stance on the Marwari community, stating, "I am not against Marwaris but I ask the industrialists who meet BJP leaders if I have ever discriminated against them."
The rally today was in front of BJP candidate Tapas Roy's residence. Speaking at the rally, Mamata Banerjee stated, "I don't know whether Sudip will stand again in the future or not, so vote for him." This statement was made in the presence of Kunal Ghosh, and it reinforced Sudip Banerjee's position as a trusted and vital member of the Trinamool Congress.
Highlighting her solidarity with the Hindi-speaking community, Mamata Banerjee mentioned her support for Chhath Puja, saying, "I am with the Hindi-speaking brothers and sisters, I also eat litti."
Further in a bold move, Mamata Banerjee announced her intention to file a defamation case worth Rs 1000 crore against the BJP after the elections. She promised to distribute the money among the people if she won the case.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she remarked, "Modi's no guarantee, only 420," suggesting that the Prime Minister's promises were untrustworthy. Furthermore, she predicted a resounding defeat for BJP candidate Tapas Roy, asserting, "Tapas Roy's bail will be forfeited in North Kolkata."
